Welcome to BC Log Cabins Inc.
BC Log Cabins Inc. has been in business since 2007, and is located in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada.
Dirk and Traute Schuirmann are the owners of BC Log Cabins Inc. Dirk and his crew handcraft the logs and other cabin components carefully in the shop with the help of special machines and tools. Traute is working in the office and responsible for the paperwork and finances.
Over the years BC Log Cabins Inc. has built cabins and cottages of various sizes and styles for customers in British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon and the Northwest Territories. We’ve also shipped to and setup cabins in the USA and Japan.

Log Cabins and Cottages
Our log cabins and cottages are ideal for remote locations. They can be set up without the need of a crane or special tools. The cabins are built out of milled logs from spruce.
BC Log Cabins Inc. offers cabin sizes from approx. 200 square feet to 1,000 square feet, and can build bigger, if desired. We manufacture different log cabin styles and work closely with our customers in designing a cabin that meets their ideas and individual needs.
During the process of planning, building and constructing a project BC Log Cabins Inc. is in touch with the customer on a regular basis. We pride ourselves on our personable approach in helping each customer in fulfilling their dream of owning a log cabin.

Since 2015 the Building Code contains significant changes regarding the R-value of log constructions.
Since 2016 it is mandatory to hire a general contractor to build a house or cabin if a building permit is required. Info: bchousing.org
Information is available from the Regional District you are planning to build in.
If a building permit is needed we can only build and setup the log frame and supply the t&g boards for the insulated log wall system for the outside wall to meet the required R value.

Insulated Wall System
The Government of Canada introduced new energy efficiency requirements for houses and small buildings in 2015, which now also include log houses and log cabins. The change in the Building Code demands a minimum insulation value of R-22 for outside walls for any log structure, including cabins and cottages. Softwood, such as spruce, has a mathematical R-value of approx. 1.2 per inch thickness. The thermal mass of softwood (e.g. spruce) is very high, which means it stores the heat for a long time in its system while it slowly travels through the log. This thermal mass of a 3+ 1/8” thick milled spruce beam is approx. comparable to an R-12 to R-15 conventional fiberglass insulation. To meet the new energy efficiency demands of the Building Code, we offer our insulated double wall system for a mathematical R-27 insulation value, including the spruce log wall (see illustration below).
